A truly unique venue in Barcelona, Spain, the Forum, will soon boast a state-of-the-art marina—the Port Forum Marina. Bellingham Marine Europe, based in the UK, has been contracted by Premia Marinas of Barcelona to design and build a Unifloat concrete floating dock system.
The turnkey project began in July 2004 and is targeted for completion in April of 2005. Port Forum Marina will consist of 190 slips in two basins ranging in size from 10m to 80m, and will include a Drystack dry storage building to accommodate 250 boats. Bellingham will also supply all the necessary amenities, including electricity, potable water, sewer pumpout, lighting and aluminum gangways.
The project will provide slips in a phased handover manner, allowing slip sales to be completed as work progresses. Construction of the Bellingham Unifloat system follows the conclusion of the Forum Barcelona 2004, a gathering where the citizens of the world can come together to debate the most urgent issues of the 21st century. The Barcelona city council, the Catalan Autonomous Government and the Spanish government unanimously approved the Statement of Principles and Values, which is based on the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and United Nations program principles.
This specially constructed harbor features the world’s largest solar panel and many other unique and environmentally friendly attractions. Points of interest include a circus facility, tourist ferries from the Port of Barcelona, a children’s’ Peace Camp and many areas where people can view the Mediterranean or simply enjoy each other’s company.
