Located in the coastal city of San Buenaventura (commonly known as “Ventura”) between San Francisco and Los Angeles, CA, Ventura Harbor Village Marina was renovated to update the facilities. Marina constructor Bellingham Marine and engineer URS /Cash and Associates were hired for the project, which includes replacement of the marina’s existing wood docks with concrete floating docks, upgraded utilities, and installation of new gangways.
The Ventura Harbor Village Marina has approximately 400 slips ranging in length from 30 to 80 feet. The facility was renovated and reconfigured, in a series of phases, to create a better variety of slips and to meet an increased demand for larger berths. The marina also hosts several charter boats for which Dock I was rebuilt with a wider configuration to accommodate passenger boarding and equipment loading needs.
The completed marina boasts Unifloat® docks with upgraded utilities. Bellingham’s Unifloat® system was chosen for its performance and compliance with California’s Layout and Design Guidelines for Marina Berthing Facilities. Power, water, cable and internet services are accessible slip side with individual metering. Several new gangways have also been installed, including an ADA compliant 80’ gangway at the northern end of the marina. Restroom, shower, and laundry facilities are available shoreside for marina tenants – plans have been made to renovate these facilities as well.
URS /Cash and Associates and Bellingham Marine have teamed up on a number of projects in Southern California. “We have enjoyed a very good relationship with BMI on this project and many others over the last several years. BMI makes a high quality product and is very responsive to special engineering challenges and to the client’s needs,” said Randy Mason, engineer for URS /Cash and Associates.
The Ventura Harbor Village Marina is located in the heart of Ventura Harbor Village, a waterfront promenade with unique shops, restaurants and hotels. The marina has transient slips as well as slips dedicated to commercial fishing vessels, charters and long term tenants.
