Brewer, owner of 22 yacht yards from New York to Maine, hired Bellingham Marine to design and supply the dock system for upgrades planned at Brewer Greenwich Bay Marina, East in Warwick, RI. The upgrades included replacement of 30 berths. The marina opened the new docks up to boaters in May.
Brewer’s team selected Bellingham Marine’s timber dock system with an IPE hardwood deck for the project. “We couldn’t be happier with the new docks,” said Chris Ruhling, Marina Manger. “Never in my career have I been able to equate a dock to something sub assembled in a cabinet shop. The product is well constructed with very close attention to every detail.” As part of Bellingham Marine’s contract with Brewer, the company provided assistance with installation and training for Brewer’s crew. “Bellingham’s hands-on approach was greatly appreciated and will help us utilize our own crews more efficiently on future installations,” remarked Ruhling.
As a solution to high storm tides and a low take off height of the gangway, Bellingham Marine designed and manufactured a notched walkway. This unique design enables the dock to rise up on the outside of the gangway allowing boat owners to access their boats during high water events while protecting the dock, gangway and utilities from damage.
Brewer’s East yard offers top-notch amenities including power and water at each slip, laundry facilities, free WiFi, and recreational areas with horseshoe pits and a swimming pool. Slip sizes range from 20’ to 60’, accommodating both fishermen and recreational boaters alike.
As the world’s leading marina design-build construction company, Bellingham Marine produces Unifloat® concrete floating dock systems as well as timber and metal frame systems. The company also produces Unistack® dry stack systems for marinas worldwide.
