The town of Westport, Connecticut, has taken another step to improve recreational amenities for its residents and out-of-town visitors. The community recently contracted with Bellingham Marine to replace the wooden docks at its municipal boating facility, E.R. Strait Marina.

The marina is now home to a 114-slip Unifloat concrete floating dock system for boats from 16′ to 32′, a new aluminum boarding finger and a new fuel dock. Bellingham also increased the size and strength of the existing wave attenuator to minimize wave chop. Parks and Recreation Director Stuart McCarthy said the concrete docks were the way to go for a long-term investment. He added, “Since the concrete docks were installed at nearby Compo Marina, we have seen that Bellingham has improved on an already good system. And Bellingham did the E.R. Strait project on an incredibly tight timeline in a very impressive manner.

This was a turn key project, from permits through utilities.” Westport also offers many other recreational pursuits, including an 18-hole golf course, beautiful beaches, a 75-yard swimming pool, clay and all-weather tennis courts, and even winter platform tennis.

Bellingham Marine designs, manufactures and installs Unifloat floating dock systems, Unideck fresh water dock systems and Unistack dry storage buildings for marinas and boat service facilities worldwide.
