Home to a large commercial fishing fleet, the Eureka Small Boat Basin is located on Humbolt Bay in the heart of California’s redwoods country. The city of Eureka recently decided to replace the wood docks in the basin with moorage that requires less maintenance and add three new wave attenuators, including one measuring almost 600′ long.
As part of the contract for this work, Bellingham Marine will supply its Unifloat floating concrete moorage and wave attenuators. These high-quality systems feature rugged concrete-encapsulated flotation with a neat, streamlined appearance that enhances the look of any marina. The three attenuators at the site will measure 12′ x 88′, 12′ x 161′ and an impressive 12′ x 579′. They were needed to protect the marina from an environment that commonly includes 1-1/2′ waves.
The general contractor for the project, Contri Construction, also specified Unifloat systems for the 110 new slips, which range in size from 30′ to 40′. Each slip will be equipped with electricity, phone and water. Concrete pile anchoring will secure the moorage in place. A Ramp Rider motorized lift system supplied by Marina Accessories Inc. will be installed to allow easy dock access for people with limited mobility.
For over 40 years, Bellingham Marine has been a leader in the design, manufacture and installation of high quality waterfront systems.
