Located in the tropical South Pacific surrounded by pristine oceans and white sandy beaches, Port Denarau Marina, on Fiji’s West Coast is positioned as the center of yachting activity in Fiji.

In February, the Marina completed a (NZ) $2 million floating jetty, which added 46 berths to the small island. The project was built as a joint effort between Bellingham Marine New Zealand and the Skeggs Group of New Zealand.

Designed to cater to mega yachts and to meet the growing demand for slips in the Fijian Islands, the new jetty at Port Denarau Marina offers 46 berths ranging in length from 12 meters to 65 meters. Ten of the new berths were built to accommodate super yachts and are capable of taking 65 meter yachts with 5 meter drafts.

The new berths are fully serviced with power and water hook-ups and feature Bellingham’s Unifloat® system. When asked about the new docks Nigel Skeggs, Denarau Marina CEO, said “the Bellingham Unifloat Marina is the first of its kind for Fiji. The Unifloat product not only meets our tough cyclone and particular design requirements but also looks fantastic; and so far has led to a significant increase in bookings for our upcoming season.”

The marina also offers a range of services including repair and commercial barge services.

A supermarket, pharmacy, bakery, bank, restaurants, bars and hotels are within walking distance of the marina and an 18-hole golf course is just a few minutes’ drive away. Also nearby are the towns of Nadi and Namaka which boast restaurants, shopping, night life, hotels and spas.

Bellingham Marine designed, manufactured and supplied the docks for the Denarau project. Denarau Marina Ltd, oversaw piling, utilities and installation. Steel Pile and dried Fijian hardwood for the dock system’s walers were sourced locally.

“Throughout the design, building, shipping and installation of our new marina, Bellingham Marine kept an open line of communication and extended their expertise to myself and my staff. They were happy to assist us in all aspects of the job,” said Skeggs. A professional, sincere and technically advanced company with a great product – what more could any marina ask for?”

As the world’s leading marina design-build construction company, Bellingham Marine produces Unifloat® concrete floating dock systems, Unideck® metal frame floating dock systems and Unistack® dry stack systems for marinas worldwide.
