Project overview
Westhaven Marina in downtown Auckland, New Zealand, has been rebuilt in stages by Bellingham Marine New Zealand under design/build contracts.
- Berth replacement: 106 berths on 1970s metal-tube, timber-decked pontoons were replaced with Unifloat® concrete pontoons, new water and power pedestals and new concrete piles. A steel pile and concrete panel wave screen was added to cut wave action from passing boats.
- X and Y Piers (2014): more than 1,710 m² of new concrete pontoons made at Bellingham’s Otahuhu, Auckland plant, with FRP thru-rods and glass-filled nylon nuts for a longer life and less maintenance. The contract covered pile and pontoon design and all installation, from security gates to a new pump-out system.
