Our History

Original Company Founding

Bellingham Marine was founded in 1928 under the name Bellingham Builders Supply. Initially established to provide building materials, the company quickly recognized the growing demand for waterfront construction in the Pacific Northwest.

This early focus on supplying materials and construction services laid the foundation for its future evolution into the marina industry, setting the stage for innovations that would come in the decades to follow.

The Unifloat® Started It All

One of our earliest Unifloat® projects was the Shilshole Marina at the Port of Seattle, constructed in the late 1950s. These docks served Shilshole admirably until their replacement in 2007, with many original docks finding new homes in nearby facilities. The enduring story of Shilshole's docks supports the strength and durability of the Unifloat® design.

Throughout our history, Bellingham Marine has expanded its operations globally, with strategically located plants and offices worldwide, allowing us to deliver the best value solutions to clients across the globe.

Looking Ahead

Over the years, our offerings and services have expanded across the globe. Starting from the world's most popular dock system, our patented Unifloat® concrete system, we have built an extensive portfolio covering the entire range of nearshore development.

For over 65+ years, we've remained committed to pioneering innovation. Our dedication ensures progressive durability, low ownership costs, and unrivaled value for our clients.
