Project overview
Bellingham Marine New Zealand was contracted in late 2020 to extend the north face of Waikawa Marina in the Marlborough Sounds, adding 251 new berths for Port Marlborough.
- 227 piles and 401 pontoons manufactured and installed.
- The marina was pre-piled while the outer breakwater was still being built, using GPS set-out instead of piling through the pontoon rings – no pile guides or layouts needed changing.
- Unifloat® pontoons with aluminium connections and internal fibreglass rebar, removing galvanised steel and steel rebar to extend life and cut maintenance.
- The final pontoon was delivered in January 2023.
